Kali Linux 2018.1 [i386, amd64] 2xDVD 2018.1
There was rolling-release Kali Linux 2018.1, which contains many updates: updated packages, an updated kernel that provides better hardware support, updated tools.
Kali Linux is a distribution that contains a variety of utilities for penetration testing - from analyzing the vulnerabilities of Web applications, to hacking networks and services, and fixing in the system. Previously, this distribution was known as Backtrack.
Additional Information:
In the new 2018 we are greeted by the latest version of Kali Linux 2018.1. This release contains all updated packages and bug fixes since the release of the 2017.3 release last November. The authors say that there were some difficulties - excitement about Meltdown and Specter (patches for preventing vulnerabilities will be in the kernel 4.15), as well as a couple of unpleasant bugs. But to our joy, all problems have been solved and now we can try a new release of Kali Linux.
Kali Linux 2018.1 has a new kernel 4.14.12. New kernels always have many new functions and the 4.14 kernel is no exception, two innovations are especially notable.
Support for AMD memory encryption - Secure Memory Encryption is a feature that will be in new AMD processors to enable automatic encryption and decryption of DRAM. Additionally, this function means that the system will no longer (in theory) be vulnerable to the Cold boot attack, since even with physical memory access, it will not be readable.
Increasing memory limits - Current (and older) 64-bit processors have a limitation of 64 TB physical address space and 256 TB of virtual address space (VAS), which was enough for more than a decade, but now some server equipment comes with 64 TB of memory and borders limits have been achieved. Fortunately, the upcoming processors will allow using 5-level paging, whose support is included in the 4.14 kernel. Briefly, this means that these new processors will support 4 PB of physical memory and 128 PB of virtual memory. Yes, yes, these are petabytes.
Update packages: In addition to updating the kernel, packages have been updated, including zaproxy, secure-socket-funneling, pixiewps, seclists, burpsuite, dbeaver and reaver. If you already have Kali installed, you can easily get the latest versions of these tools, along with everything else that has been updated:
Hyper-V updates: For those of you who use Hyper-V to run Kali virtual machines supplied by Offensive Security, you will find that the Hyper-V virtual machine is now Generation 2, which means support for UEFI and support for increasing / decreasing the HDD. Also included are Hyper-V integration services that support dynamic memory, network monitoring / scaling, and replication. Amount md5: File: kali-linux-2018.1-amd64.iso CRC-32: def6c943
